Colonoscopy

A colonoscopy is a diagnostic and therapeutic procedure used to examine the colon and rectum using a flexible tube equipped with a tiny camera, allowing the doctor to clearly see the lining of the intestine. The colonoscopy helps in the early detection of colon inflammation, bleeding, polyps, and tumors. It also allows for the collection of biopsies for examination or the removal of some polyps during the same session. A colonoscopy is one of the most important preventative screening tools, especially for the early detection of colon cancer, and is usually performed under sedation to ensure the patient's comfort.
